Carol McDermott grew up with her family in Dorchester, Massachusetts. Her mother was a real estate agent and her father was a police detective for the Boston Police Department. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy, Trinity University in Washington, DC, and Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. Carol lives with her husband in Falmouth, Massachusetts.
Education:
Atty. McDermott earned a bachelor of arts degree, with a focus in economics and French at Trinity College in Washington, DC. During college, she worked at the US Capital, serving representatives of the United States Congress in Washington, DC.
In May 1994, Carol earned her law degree, juris doctor, at Suffolk University Law School, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Atty. McDermott is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. She is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Experience:
In 1982-1988, Atty. McDermott worked in the executive management program at Jordan Marsh Company (Macy's). In 1988-1996, Carol worked as a teacher, manager and executive in the retail management program at Burdett College in Boston, Massachusetts.
In 1996-2015, Atty. McDermott worked as the general legal counsel for the City of Boston, in the Inspectional Services Department. Carol was also promoted to the position of Chief of Staff of the Department of Neighborhood Development in the City of Boston, Massachusetts.
Later, Atty. McDermott shifted to managing and defending workers' compensation cases for the City of Boston and representing the city's interests in WC cases at the Dept. of Industrial Accidents.
Atty. McDermott joined Kelly Law Offices in 2020 and has been dedicated, for the past several years, to the successful management of workers' compensation matters at the Dept. of Industrial Accidents and in the related courts in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Fun & Real World:
When not in "work-world", Atty. McDermott is a fitness instructor, helping Cape Cod get stong & healthy!! You might also find Carol spending time with her husband, Michael, and their two adult sons. Carol also enjoys Florida, her extended McDermott family, and traveling to see "new places" with friends.
